The Institute of state and law of the Russian Academy of Sciences is traditionally engaged in research in various fields of law.

Researchers participate in the development of legislative acts and concepts of the activities of the Supreme state authorities, conduct expert examinations of bills submitted for discussion in the Federal Assembly, advise on specific issues and give expert opinions, including to the judiciary and the Prosecutor's office.

Thus, only in the period from 1998 to 2003. scientists of the Institute participated in the preparation of about 200 draft Federal laws, gave more than 300 opinions on draft laws, developed more than 30 Federal programs and scientific and analytical concepts. At the request of various authorities and public administration, 235 analytical materials, reports and references have been prepared. The Institute regularly holds scientific conferences, round tables, thematic readings.
